Privacy & Terms of Use

Welcome to Fale of Learning! We built this platform to help you succeed in your NCEA journey. Because your trust is important to us, we want to be completely clear about the rules of the app and how we protect your personal information.

Please read this page carefully. If you are under 16, it is a good idea to read this with a parent, guardian, or whānau member.

Part 1: Privacy Policy (How we protect your data)

We respect your privacy. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have rights regarding your personal information, and we take our responsibility to protect those rights very seriously.

1. What information we collect

When you use Fale of Learning, we only collect the information we actually need to make the app work for you:

  • Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address or the basic profile information provided by Google (if you use Google Sign-In).
  • Your Study Chats: We securely save the questions you ask and the conversations you have with the AI tutor. We also track which NCEA subjects you pin to your sidebar.

2. Why we collect it

We use this information for three reasons:

  • To keep your account secure and let you log in from any device.
  • To save your study progress so you never lose your place and can review past chats.
  • To help the AI tutor understand what you are studying so it can give you the most accurate, localized help based on the official NZQA standards.

3. Who sees your information

We do not sell your data to anyone. Your chats are private to you. To make the app work, your questions are securely processed by the cloud and AI systems that power our tutor. These systems are strict about security and are only allowed to use your data to generate your study answers—they do not use your private chats to train public AI models.

4. Keeping your data safe

We use modern security measures, including encryption and secure databases, to make sure your email and chat history are locked down and protected from unauthorized access.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Under New Zealand law, you own your personal information. This means:

  • You can ask to see it: You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • You can ask to fix it: If any information we have is wrong, you can ask us to correct it.
  • You can ask to delete it: You can request that we delete your account and wipe your chat history from our systems at any time.

If you want to do any of these things, or if you have a question about your privacy, you can contact us at davis.tui@gmail.com.

Part 2: Terms of Use (The rules of the app)

By using Fale of Learning, you agree to a few simple rules. These are designed to keep the platform helpful, safe, and fair for everyone.

1. This is a study guide, not a shortcut

Fale of Learning is here to help you understand tough concepts, practice for exams, and build your confidence. It is not a tool for cheating. You agree that you will not use the AI to write your internal assessments for you or submit AI-generated text as your own original work.

2. Always double-check the facts

Our AI tutor is grounded in official NZQA achievement standards and Ministry of Education documents. However, artificial intelligence can occasionally make mistakes or get confused.

  • The golden rule: Always double-check important facts, formulas, or grading criteria against your official school resources and teachers. We provide links to the source documents so you can verify the answers yourself.

3. Keep it respectful

You agree to use the chat feature responsibly. You will not use the AI tutor to generate harmful, offensive, illegal, or inappropriate content. We want to keep this a positive space for learning.

4. Protect your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details safe. Don't share your account password with anyone else. If you think someone else has gotten into your account, let us know immediately so we can help secure it.

5. Changes to the platform

We are always working to add more NCEA subjects and improve the app. This means the platform will update and change over time. We also reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.
